Civil servant investigator DG Gakkum KLHK immediately named the suspect the owner of 10 thousand illegal ebony logs to be exported to Sanghai and Huangpu, China, by a timber company in Palu City, Central Sulawesi. The Directorate General of Gakkum in collaboration with the Sea Security Agency (Bakamla) secured 27.5000 m3 in two containers while being transported by ship from the Pantoloan Sea Port, Palu to the Tanjung Perak Port of Surabaya, on March 13, 2019.
Civil Servant investigator Director General Gakkum immediately set the suspect after obtaining evidence related to alleged criminal acts which resulted in state losses of Rp 1.5 billion. That value does not include losses due to ecological damage, forest ecosystems that support the lives of surrounding communities.
The suspect will be charged under Article 78 Paragraph 5 Jo Article 50 Paragraph 3e of Law No. 41 of 1999 concerning Forestry Jo Article 83 Paragraph 1b Jo Article 12e and / or Article 87 paragraph 1a Jo Article 12k and / or Article 88 Paragraph 1a and 1b Jo Article 14 and Article 16 and / or Article 88 2a and 2b Jo Article 14 and 16 and / or Article 109 of Law No. 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction Jo Article 55 Paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment of 2 years to 15 years and fines of Rp 5 billion to Rp 15 billion.
